Bonodori! , Japanese dance party outside

The season of summer has come.
And it is really hot in Tokyo now. 

But! summer in Japan has a lot of fun!

One of that is festivals.

Below is a festival named "Bonodori" 盆踊り in Japanese.
It is a Japanese traditional festival, night dance party outside.

It was originally a religious ceremony to send ancestral spirits to its spiritual world.
But now it is a local seasonal event.

Everybody can join the dance.
People dance around the center tower.
At the center of the higher tower, people who beat Japanese drums with Japanese songs and veteran dancers dance.

Many people enjoy wearing Yukata, Japanese summer kimono.

And at this party, another fun is groumet of food stalls.
many food stalls are set up and you can enjoy Japanese cheap food like
"Takoyaki" octopus dumpling, "yakisoba" Japanese pan-fried noodles and so on.

Bon dance festivcal is held at many place during summer.

In Sugamo, July 22th to 24th near the Sugamo station and

July 29th to 31th near the Kouganji.
